About Canute Records
Canute Records was founded in 2026 as a co-operative venture by two artists with an established history of friendship, mutual support and collaboration: Caper Clowns from Denmark and Spygenius from the UK. As a co-operative, Canute Records works differently from regular record labels:

1. There’s no money!
Canute Records doesn't have a label budget - and that's deliberate. There is no mysterious record-company pot of gold. The artists fund their own records, keep all of the rights and receive 100% of the money from sales. So what do we actually provide? Canute Records provides the name, the identity, the encouragement, a lot of enthusiasm, and the practical help with preparing products for release, promotion and distribution. We don't have a budget - we have each other!

2. ​We don’t sign anyone!
At least, not yet. For now, Canute Records is home to Caper Clowns, Spygenius, Rick Kingo and With Radiant Action. It is possible we may release music by other artists in the future, but only people with whom we already have an established history of friendship, mutual support and collaboration. So, if you wanted to join us, you would need to not only bring your great music, but your enthusiasm for everyone else's too.

CAPER CLOWNS - Danish five-piece, Danish indie pop band make melodic pop-rock, combining 60s influences, 90s indie and a kaleidoscopic mix of hooks, harmonies and playful invention. The band was formed in 2010 and the members are Rick Kingo, Peter Højgaard, Christian Højgaard, Henrik Krogh and Rasmus Almlund.
SPYGENIUS - Canterbury’s Classic British four piece combo delights in catchy pop songs, lyrical wit and elaborate harmonies. Impossible to pigeonhole, Peter Watts, Ruth Rogers, Matt Byrne and Alan Cannings have developed a chemistry in which melodic pop, psychedelia, wit, intricate arrangements and unapologetic eccentricity CAN coexist.
